Fireflight formed when Glenn Drennen, his wife Wendy, and school friend Justin Cox came together, later adding vocalist Dawn Michele and drummer Phee Shorb. They initially released their album "Glam-rök" in 2002 and gained prominence with their major label debut, "The Healing of Harms," in 2006, featuring two No. 1 singles, "You Decide" and "Waiting."

The band continued to grow, releasing albums like "Unbreakable" and "For Those Who Wait," the latter peaking at No. 5 on Billboard's Hot Christian Albums chart. After lineup changes and a shift to independent music, they released "Innova" in 2015 and "Who We Are: The Head and the Heart" in 2020. As of 2024, vocalist Dawn Michele stated the band is "semi-retired," while she has pursued a new project called Altira.
