Ashes Remain, hailing from Baltimore, Maryland, was formed when Josh Smith and Ryan Nalepa met at a summer youth camp and decided to start a band. Over the years, they added members Rob Tahan, Jonathan Hively, and Ben Kirk. Their first independent album, "Lose the Alibis," was released in 2003, selling around 2,000 copies in its first year.

The band gained recognition by winning the "Philadelphia Regional Christian Artist Talent Search" in 2003 and went on to release several projects, including "Last Day Breathing" in 2007 and the "Red Devotion EP" in 2009. In 2010, they signed with Fair Trade Services. Their album "What I've Become" reflects a journey from darkness to light, resonating with fans through its hopeful message. Ashes Remain has toured extensively, including with Fireflight in 2012, and released their Christmas EP in 2017, along with the single "All of Me." Their album "Let the Light In" followed later that year.
