12 Stones formed in Mandeville, Louisiana, and quickly signed with Wind-up Records within 15 months. Lead vocalist Paul McCoy gained fame as a featured artist on Evanescence's Grammy-winning single "Bring Me to Life" in 2003. Their self-titled debut album produced several notable songs, including "My Life," which appeared in "The Scorpion King," and "Broken," the theme for WWE's Judgment Day.

In 2009, they released "We Are One," which became a theme song for WWE's The Nexus and was used in other sporting events. After leaving Wind-up Records in 2010, they signed with Executive Music Group and released "Beneath the Scars" in 2012. Their fifth album, "Picture Perfect," came out in 2017, followed by the EP "Smoke and Mirrors, Volume 1" in 2020.

While often categorized as a Christian rock band, 12 Stones emphasizes that their message is universal, focusing on themes of good versus evil, personal faith, and optimism throughout their music.
