Theocracy is an American Christian progressive power metal band that started in 2002 as a one-man project by Matt Smith in Athens, Georgia. Smith wrote, performed, and produced all the instruments and vocals on their self-titled debut album in 2003.

The band evolved into a full ensemble with the release of their second album, "Mirror of Souls," in 2008. They blend power metal with progressive influences, often drawing comparisons to bands like Iron Maiden and Dream Theater. Theocracy's lyrics are deeply rooted in Christian faith, exploring themes like redemption and biblical narratives.
